Centralize the crossbar on the latch housings. Put seat back in upright position and check for clearance.
With the bar in position, trace the slotted holes in each foot.
Mark the center of the slots to drill four 5/16" holes. Check to see if they are the same distance apart as the holes in the stiffener plates.
Drill the four 5/16" holes.
On the models with round button: unscrew the button and remove the trim. Using a suitable tool, extend the marked slots to the edge of the trim (see diagram A). Remove latch housings. Position stiffeners (note: oval hole to front and offset to outside (see diagram A) and loosely attach the feet to housings. Reinstall the housings; slide the trim back on underneath the feet, making sure that the rod for the release knob is in the hole. Replace the knob. Remount the crossbar to the feet and center in car. Tighten the feet.
On the models with latch hook: remove the latch housings and disconnect the latch hook. Loosely install the mounting feet and stiffeners (note: oval hole to front and offset to outside, release hook goes through oval (see diagram B). Refit release hook and the latch housings. Mount crossbar to the feet and center in car. Tighten all mountings.
Remove the crossbar and install it to the seat. Install in position and secure with thumbscrews. Check fit and make any necessary adjustments.
Fit seat belts, as in Figure 2. It will be easier with the seat removed and the back seats tipped forward. To make bolt removal easier, soak with penetrating oil first.
