Land Rover dealers around the world are gearing up to start selling the new Discovery vehicle in mid 2017. We haven’t even had a chance to fully process how we feel about the redesigned “Disco,” and yet, as if to distract us from that goal, Land Rover has announced yet another addition to the Range Rover family of vehicles. This one is the “Velar,” named after the original factory Range Rover prototypes produced in the late 60’s.
On March 1st, Land Rover revealed images and video of the Velar, along with specifications and performance figures.
Land Rover places Velar on a level somewhere between Evoque and Range Rover Sport. Not as big as a Sport, but a bit larger and a bit more off road-able than the Evoques.
Says Land Rover Design Chief, Gerry McGovern, "We call the Velar the avant-garde Range Rover. It brings a new dimension of glamour, modernity and elegance to the brand. The Range Rover Velar changes everything.”
