Usually, when an auto manufacturer makes a two door and a four version of a given car, the two door model is much more striking in its appearance. Somehow, Land Rover managed to avoid that particular concern with the new five door Evoque. It’s arguably every bit as stunningly attractive as the initial two door version. More practical, too, if that matters.
A new 240bhp, 2.0 liter engine uses direct fuel injection, turbocharging and twin variable valve timing to make it as fast as it is fuel efficient. And it’s a Range Rover, so it comes with the high-end high-tech you’d expect, from Bluetooth hands-free phone to a range of USB and auxiliary inputs for iPods and other such life-enhancing items.
And, as we reported earlier, it’s available in three distinct design themes:
The ‘Pure' version goes for a post-modern, neutral colored interior with soft-touch wrapped materials on the major surfaces contrasted by brushed aluminium trim.
The ‘Prestige' version, as its name suggests, goes for the full complement of English clubroom luxury accoutrements, where everything is wrapped in leather and outside it sports unique 19-inch wheels.
The ‘Dynamic' version goes for more of a bad boy image, combining the sporty look of 20-inch wheels with unique bumpers, grille and tailpipes for a more don’t-mess-with-me stance. Inside you get sports seats and occasional splashes of bright contrasting color.
And everyone gets all of this:
So, two or four door, you’re getting a vehicle that’s every inch a Range Rover and if you want to see it head on out to the L.A. Auto Show next week. Buying one may not be so easy this early in the game, but, just to be safe, the Halewood plant in Merseyside, U.K. is planning on adding yet another 500 in staff in the coming months to keep your wait short.
