Yellow is back in fashion at Land Rover, as a run of 220 “Trophy Edition” Defender 110s is heading to the market. Buyers get a truck that bears a resemblance to a certain iconic 80s and 90s adventure competition, as well as an invite to the Land Rover Trophy competition at The Biltmore in North Carolina – and a chance for an international finals spot in England in February 2022.

The next Discovery will switch platforms, moving away from being related to the Range Rover and Defender to being on the electric-native EMA platform with the Range Rover Sport and Discovery Sport.

The Defender will be the support vehicle for the “world’s toughest adventure race,” the Red Bull X-Alps Adventure Race. The 12-day race traverses the Alps across five countries, and combines the ultra-athletic pursuits of hiking, ultra-running, mountaineering, and paragliding.

The Ineos Grenadier, the independently-developed “spiritual successor” to the classic Land Rover Defender, should be coming to America in 2023 as part of its global launch. Plans are in the works for an American dealer network, and a former Land Rover executive has been hired to work on marketing.
