Ever since The Queen first watched a race from the roof of her Series truck, Land Rovers and equestrian sports have gone together like champagne and caviar. Land Rover has a long history in America of sponsoring equestrianism, including putting its name on the Kentucky Three-Day Event, one of the most significant events in the annual competition calendar. With the US Equestrian Federation Pack, Land Rover now offers an Equestrian-themed Accessory Pack to their customers.
The new pack is available on the Range Rover, Range Rover Sport, Defender, and Discovery. It’s designed for horse owners and equestrian event attendees, with a combination of lifestyle items and vehicle-specific accessories. It’s not a cheap retail purchase at $5,000, though it includes some high-dollar items and a $250 contribution to the US Equestrian Federation for every pack bought.
The lifestyle accessories in the pack (all branded with the USEF logo where appropriate) include:
- a wool blanket
- a canvas tote
- a horse cooler (which is that custom-fitted blanket horses walk around the paddock in at events)
- a garment bag for your riding gear
- a picnic basket
- a YETI cooler
On-vehicle accessories in the pack include:
- mud flaps to keep the paint clean while driving in the field
- protective rubber mats throughout
- a portable rinse system for some after-riding washing up
The donations from the sales of the packs will go to the US Equestrian Foundation Community Outreach Opportunity Fund, which is working to make horse sports accessible to people from under-served and under-represented communities.
This weekend, Land Rover is sponsoring the Kentucky Three-Day Event, with the highest echelons of riders and horses in attendance. Among all the equestrian activities, there are a few Land Rover things to do, too. There’s a Junior Drive Experience for kids 4-10 to try their hand at piloting Toylander electric Defender replicas, a Saturday Tailgate Experience for invited Land Rover owners to try their hand on the cross-country course, and a Defender on display with the equestrian pack. The winner of the event will also take home the keys to a one-year lease on a Defender and a major share of a $375,000 purse.
If you want to tune into the Kentucky Three-Day Event fun from home and maybe get a glimpse of a few Land Rovers strewn about the field, it’ll be on NBC on Sunday, 5/1/2022 from 1-2 PM ET, and on the Peacock streaming network.
