What do you do to celebrate 60 years of success and your third consecutive record sales year? You blow up the balloons and party, of course!
What do you do to celebrate 60 years of success and your third consecutive record sales year? You blow up the balloons and party, of course!
2007 was Land Rover’s best year ever and its third successive record sales year with 226,395 cars sold around the world. (OK, so despite this Ford sold it to India’s Tata Motors, but we’re talking brand here.) So to celebrate this success and to look back on its rich 60-year history, Land Rover broke out the balloons ... hot air balloons, that is.
Wanting to give an extraordinary experience to its customers, Land Rover commissioned three hot air balloons to whisk 60 people 3,000 feet above the serene desert dunes over Dubai offering them a breathtaking view of the sun rising over the mountains.
Following the three hot air balloons over the desert dunes were the “crash convoys” comprising the entire Land Rover line-up: the flagship Range Rover, Range Rover Sport, Land Rover LR3, Land Rover LR2 and Defender. Must have been an impressive sight from the air.
The event was attended by regional importers, customers and media who had gathered at three in the morning to be part of the celebrations.
“Land Rover manufactures the world's finest all terrain vehicles and has evolved over the past 60 years. It has become synonymous with delivering a spirit of adventure and we are delighted that we provided our guests with an extraordinary experience as we celebrated our 60th anniversary,” said Marcelle Duncan, Regional Marketing Manager, Land Rover Middle East and North Africa.
It’s doing cool stuff like taking your friends and business associates up for a bird’s eye view of your vehicle line-up snaking over the desert that sets Land Rover apart. We hope they keep it up.
