Automobiles and fashion have deep roots in today’s culture and perhaps no two brands are more firmly entrenched in British culture than Land Rover and Barbour. The recent announcement that the two companies would pair for a new collection called Barbour for Land Rover seems like a logical fit.
The collaboration is not the first time an automaker and a clothing line have teamed up for a joint venture, but the obvious brand synergy suggests that this initiative could prove fruitful for both parties. Both Land Rover and Barbour espouse a high-brow outdoor aesthetic that figures to have tremendous appeal for their respective consumer bases, of which there is likely considerable overlap.
“There is a strong synergy between Barbour and Land Rover - we are both established British brands with years of heritage, renowned for our understated style synonymous with the British countryside,” noted Steve Buck, managing director at Barbour.
Robin Colgan, Land Rover’s global director added that Barbour for Land Rover, “will produce clothing which will draw from both brand’s rich heritage and shared understanding of style and functionality.”
Barbour for Land Rover will be sold at both companies’ stores and should be available in August 2014.
