Land Rover Special Vehicle Operations Division (SVO) is planning a line of specialized, hardcore off-roaders to complement their SVR performance series and SVAutobiaography luxury/bespoke versions. The new lineup will be called SVX, a designation that Land Rover has used before for some "spiced up" Defender models.
The new SVX brand, revealed by SVO head John Edwards in an interivew with Car and Driver, will include “added capability” over the standard Land Rover lineup. And while some SVO products are available in both Jaguar and Land Rover brands, the SVX models will only be Land Rover-based. Edwards didn't give any clues as to what features the SVX versions might incorporate or which models would be targets for the SVX treatment. Speculation of course points us to look at the new Defender as a prime candidate. Though certainly any of the other Land Rover vehicles would make an interesting platform as well.
