Land Rover has announced that it will be a leading partner in a journey that aims to recreate Captain Robert Falcon Scott’s doomed Terra Nova expedition to Antarctica’s South Pole.
Famed British explorer and Land Rover Global Brand Ambassador Ben Saunders will be joined by “professional adventurer” Tarka L’Herpiniere as they attempt a return journey to the South Pole. Readers familiar with Captain Robert Falcon Scott’s ill-fated trip know that Scott and his team made it to the South Pole, only to die of starvation and exhaustion on their journey home. Unlike Scott, Saunders will be aided by the latest in modern technology, including sophisticated geo tracking systems, modern cold-weather clothing and carbon fiber sleds which will carry the food and supplies.
While no actual Land Rovers will participate in the trip, the group’s venture embodies the “Above and Beyond” spirit that is at the very core of the Land Rover brand.
