World's Longest Land Rover Parade Breaks Record

World Record Parade of Land Rovers

A new world record has been set for the longest parade of Land Rovers – 632 trucks that wound their way around Bad Kissingen, Bavaria, Germany under the supervision of officials from Guinness World Records.

The prior record was set in Portugal in 2014, with 516 trucks. The German parade stretched over 7.4 kilometers (over 4.5 miles). Every type of Land Rover participated, from 1940s Series I 80” to Range Rover Evoque convertibles. Over 80% of the vehicles were Series or Defenders. The parade was organized by Land Rover corporate in Germany, and was held during the annual Abenteuer Allrad exhibition, the largest in the world for cross-country and off-road vehicles.

The vehicles had to all stay within two car lengths of each other, or the truck at the back of the gap would be disqualified from the official count. The trucks had to also be in constant motion. There were Guinness validators every kilometer to check for gaps. There was one practice lap before embarking on the official record attempt procession, which was just under an hour.

Land Rover enthusiasts came from all over Europe to participate in the parade – including some who took an 8-day journey from Siberia to attend!

The record was certified on the spot, and celebrated by the Guinness and Land Rover teams and all of the participants – over 1,500 between the 632 vehicles.

Another Land Rover parade will be held during the Goodwood Festival of Speed, held July 12-15 this year, where 70 historically significant Land Rovers will drive up the famous hill climb – including H166 HUE, the last Defender off the line, owned by Land Rover legend Roger Crathorne.
