Land Rover and Nanotechnology may seem like an odd mix, but for one California-based photographer, the glowing glass and steel structure right here in Albany, New York proved irresistible.
Land Rover North America is doing a photo shoot of its new models at the Albany NanoTech complex on Fuller Road in Albany, NY. This is only minutes away from Atlantic British, Ltd. HQ.
Apparently the Orange, Calif.-based photographer who is doing the work for Land Rover has been through Albany and loved the high-tech architecture of Albany NanoTech, home to the University at Albany’s College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering. The building is all angular and glass and steel and, as the photographer said, is much bolder and less bland than the architecture in Silicon Valley.
The photos will be taken during sunrise and sunset to capture the sunlight playing over the glass. They will be used in press kits that Land Rover hands out to the automotive media, so the general public may not see them. The college is receiving an undisclosed fee as well as the good publicity.
“You might call this a case of nanotechnology bringing a bit of Hollywood to Albany,” said NanoCollege spokesman Steve Janack. Well...it's not the Serengeti, but it's not Silicon Valley, either. Maybe Atlantic British should consider the same for a future shoot of our own?
