Just in case you thought Land Rover's flagship model could not be made even more luxurious and powerful, or offer a greater sense of exclusivity to its owners, I give you the newest entrant into the Range Rover lineup. The 2017 full-size Range Rover SVAutobiography Dynamic. This new variant of the latest Range Rover body style will go on sale in fall of 2016 for the 2017 model year. It offers the same blistering performance as its now brash-appearing little brother, the Range Rover Sport SVR.
This latest checkbook-straining pinnacle of vehicular perfection boasts the same 550PS 5.0-liter V8 supercharged engine as the Range Rover Sport SVR, though it has been tuned for the full-size platform and delivers 680Nm of torque, powering the SVAutobiography Dynamic from 0-100km/h (0-62mph) in only 5.4 seconds.
Of course, just being the most powerful production Range Rover is not nearly enough to satisfy the rare and discerning customers that understand just how special this vehicle can be, and also have the means to purchase one. The interior offers custom, quilted upholstery, and the vehicle can be configured, like most Autobiography versions, almost any way the purchaser sees fit, within a broad palette of trim levels and optional colors and finishes.
The SVAutobiography Dynamic offers the full range of driver assist features available to date. including Dynamic Response, Surround Camera System, Advanced Tow Assist, Low Traction Launch, Rear Park Distance Control, Cruise Control and Speed Limiter, Lane Departure Warning, and Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB).
Wait, that isn't all! Also included are, Blind Spot Monitor, Reverse Traffic Detection, new technology such as Intelligent Speed Limiter and Traffic Sign Recognition, Driver Condition Monitor to warn against driver fatigue, Adaptive Cruise Control with Queue Assist, and Intelligent Emergency Braking. New features for 2017 are Blind Spot Assist, and Lane Keep Assist.
There just isn't room here to go on and describe all of those features in detail, but the names are fairly descriptive and I encourage readers to pull up JLR's press release for more information on them. This vehicle really appears to be an astounding achievement for Land Rover, and I can't wait to see (and hear!) my first one out on the road. Sadly, I am sure I will only get to see it from the outside. But, that will have to do.
