There’s a new top Discovery in town, the Metropolitan Edition – the most luxurious Disco ever built. Available for order now as a 2023 model, it’s the fanciest version ever of Land Rover’s venerable seven-seater.
The Disco has been a bit neglected lately. The Defender has gotten special edition after special edition, while its more boxy shape has attracted a number of would-be Discovery buyers. The Range Rover lineup is ever-exciting, and ready for a new generation. The Discovery, meanwhile, has been somewhat stuck in the middle in a mid-life identity crisis. The one benefit it has: it's the only Land Rover that comfortably seats seven full-sized people.
The Metropolitan Edition brings a new top-tier spec to the Disco lineup. It builds on the current top-tier R-Dynamic HSE model, and includes a host of technological features and aesthetic upgrades. The 355-horsepower 3.0-liter Ingenium straight six mild hybrid engine is standard.
On the exterior, the Metropolitan combines some of the most standout aesthetic choices the Discovery can offer. The grille and DISCOVERY lettering are Bright Atlas. The lower bumper inserts are a darker Hakuba Silver. There’s distinctive 22-inch diamond-turned alloy wheels, Gloss Grey detailing throughout, and black Land Rover-branded calipers.
Inside, the Metropolitan offers every option the Disco 5 offers. There’s a heads-up display, heated steering wheel, power-folding heated third row seating, a cooler in the center console, top-tier Meridian sound system, and four-zone climate control. The interior is covered in Titanium Mesh trim.
The Metropolitan Edition is priced at $75,300, and is now available to order.
