Fans of Jaguar Land Rover and Blackberry have reason to rejoice…
Blackberry Smartphones will be fully integrated into the central touch screen of Jaguar Land Rover vehicles beginning in late 2012. This synchronization of smart phone and vehicle console known as “Connect and View” comes courtesy of RealVNC software, a British remote-control software company.
The Connect and View system debuted at the Blackberry World Conference this Tuesday in Orlando, Florida, and features new functionality (e.g. mobile app compatibility) that expands on typical phone and navigation abilities which exist in many vehicles today.
Early images show entertainment console that replicate the interface of existing Blackberry phones. The goal is to eventually incorporate a full line of smartphone capabilities within the automobile.
Connect and View, “will make a significant difference to the way our customers use the entertainment systems on our vehicles as well as their smartphones,” noted Bob Joyce, Group Engineering Director at Jaguar Land Rover.
Jaguar’s XJ model will be the first to feature Connect and View, with additional Jaguar and Land Rover models to follow.
