It'll be the cheapest high-performance Range Rover, too -- though that's relative, as the lead-in price in the UK (US pricing isn't announced yet, but it is coming here) is the equivalent of over $110,000. And if you want one, you have to hurry -- it's only going to be available for one model year.
By virtue of the Range Rover Velar being lighter than the Range Rover or Range Rover Sport, it will be the fastest Land Rover ever made -- quicker than the current record holder, the Range Rover Sport SVR -- as it uses the same powerplant.
In addition to the V8 engine, the SV Autobiography Dynamic features bigger brakes beneath forged aluminum wheels -- the 21-inch rims weigh the same as the normal 20-inch alloys. The two-piece brake discs dissipate heat easier. The calipers are painted red with "RANGE ROVER" lettering, for that extra whiz-bang. Gloss Black calipers are an option if you're a bit more...discreet.
Inside is a quilted Windsor leather pattern that is only available on the SV Autobiography Dynamic, with 20-way adjustments, heating and cooling, and massage function standard. The steering wheel has paddle shifters behind it, and a custom startup screen on the infotainment system makes it clear this Velar is a cut above.
The driveline calibrations are special to the SV Autobiography Dynamic, and it took the engineering team 63,900 man hours to tine it all properly. The all-wheel drive system has an uprated transfer box, too, to handle the V8 power, and it can send 100% of the power to the rear axle if needed.
The Range Rover Velar SV Autobiography Dynamic will be a very rare vehicle, but certainly a special one. Combining the sultry styling of the Velar with the power of the high-output V8 sounds like a winning combination for those willing to shell out the serious money for one.
