As part of its ongoing extreme climate testing, Land Rover took its most powerful model ever, the Range Rover Sport SVR, to a replica of the UK’s famous Silverstone race circuit, carved in full scale out of the surface of an icy lake in Northern Sweden, only 70 kilometers below the Arctic Circle. There they sent Land Rover Ambassador Ben Saunders and Finnish ex-rally driver Minna Sillankorva zipping sideways around the icy piste in a brand new 550 horsepower 2016 Range Rover Sport SVR.

Of course, they captured it all into a nice video for us to enjoy.

The US federal government announced on May 4th that the infamous Takata airbag recall will be expanded to include another 35 to 40 million air bag inflators. That could double the size of the already cripplingly large recall.

The recall expansion includes vehicles made by three companies that have not been part of the recall until now: Jaguar-Land Rover, along with Tesla and Fisker. Prior to this latest addition, the Takata recall was already the largest automotive safety recall in United States history.

In conjunction with the introduction of the 2017 model Discovery Sport, Land Rover has announced the debut of an innovative tech feature. The British 4x4 automaker has revealed that it partnered with tech company “Tile” to produce an on-board version of Tile’s advanced tracking app. The 2017 Discovery Sport is the first vehicle ever to incorporate the groundbreaking Tile technology.

Amsterdam, 14th April 2016: Today, Jaguar Land Rover showed its support for the EU's plan for the standardization and harmonization of autonomous vehicle technology. With EU Transport Ministers looking on, company officials demonstrated the capabilities of some of JLR's experimental, highly-autonomous vehicles. The demos included 'hands free' driving on the busy, crowded, and narrow streets of Amsterdam.

Mechanical troubles on our way to Utah - the off-road Capital...

DAY 3 (continued)

Our last installment of "On The Road" left us with our intrepid Atlantic British travelers laid up on the side of a road somewhere in Colorado. One of the Land Rovers in the group was “dead in the water” with a suspected broken throttle cable. Once the diagnosis was confirmed, the group began to try to locate a replacement cable. Eric dialed up an old friend, a member of the Colorado based Solihull Society club to see if he knew anyone that night have a the correct cable. He said he thought he had a lead, and that he would call back.

Day 1, Thursday- I left straight from Atlantic British at noon. Before long, the mildly-lifted Disco 2 was getting constantly buffeted by powerful cross winds. This dragged the trip out to a grueling 12.5 hours, finally stopping south of Columbus, Ohio just after midnight.

Land Rover’s new Classic division has provided more information about the current plan to offer refurbished, or “Reborn” Series One Land Rovers to the public. In addition, last week it brought a the first Reborn vehicle, now dubbed "Car Zero," and a couple of un-restored Series Ones as well, to the Techno-Classica Collector Car Show in Essen Germany.

Now, Rover Special Vehicles Division is joining their ranks, seeking to add even more power to Land Rovers anything-but-gutless Range Rover Sport SVR model. During the 2016 Geneva Auto Show, Jaguar’s own Special Vehicles division showcased a new, more extreme F-Type, boasting 575 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque. Reports in the British media indicate that Land Rover has set its sights on the new Supercharged V8 and wants to use it to build an equally extreme SVR.
