Over the Martin Luther King weekend, the 4xFAR Festival debuted the new Defender in the Coachella Valley of California, alongside a full program of musicians, adventure activities, and Land Rover heritage displays.

Most people go on normal vacations for New Year's. Maybe skiing, or to a beach. Not many people decide to spend their holiday driving into sub-freezing temperatures in Northern Quebec, in search of the end of one of the northernmost roads in North America.

The 2020 Dakar Rally is going on now, with a convoy of race vehicles that bear as much resemblance to a factory vehicle as a NASCAR Toyota Camry does to one in a rental car lot. It's the first rally to be held in Saudi Arabia, the third region to host the rally. But in 1979, it was a race across Africa, in modified factory cars...and in the earliest days, the Range Rover Classic was dominant in the field.

Gerry McGovern, Automotive Design Director at Land Rover, has been made an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in The Queen's 2020 New Year's Honours.

Fresh off The Last Overland, a retracing of the iconic 1955-56 First Overland expedition, the iconic Land Rover Series I “Oxford” is ready to conquer its next continent: North America. Plans are in the works for the truck to spend 2020 cross-crossing the USA and Canada, visiting Land Rover clubs and events along the way.

Land Rovers and dogs are a natural pair. The durability of Land Rovers has always helped them be perfect vehicles for dog owners, and every adventure-mobile needs a dog. To make sure that this tradition continues, Land Rover has 3D printed a dog’s paw to be used to test the durability of their rear bumpers.

In a surprise announcement, Jaguar Land Rover purchased the off-road tuning firm Bowler, a 34-year-old business that has prepared Land Rovers for legendary off-road racing triumphs. Bowler will take its place in the portfolio of JLR’s Special Vehicle Operations (SVO) department.

After 100 days on the road, the Last Overland expedition is returning to London on Saturday, December 14^th, with "Oxford," the same iconic Series 1 86” Station Wagon that completed the “First Overland” expedition in 1955-56.

James Bond has always been closely associated with Land Rovers, and there have been some models already confirmed for the new film, 2020’s No Time to Die. The trailer, which dropped last week, hints at a few more Land Rovers that’ll feature in 007’s next adventure.

You can’t even take delivery of a New Defender yet, and already it looks like Land Rover is looking to expand the model range in both directions, with a “baby Defender” to compete with mini-SUVs from other luxury marques, and a “Defender Sport” with an electric drivetrain taking up the mantle of the six-figure vehicle.

Most Land Rover owners know about the Land Rover's earliest history. The Wilks Brothers, higher-ups at The Rover Car Company, had a wartime Jeep, drove it around their farm in Wales, thought they could build something like it in Britain, and drew a picture in the sands of Red Wharf Bay in Anglesey. Millions of Land Rovers and billions of adventures followed over the next 71 years. But who, really, were the Wilks Brothers? And what else were they known for?

The new Defender had its North American launch in Downtown Los Angeles before the Los Angeles Auto Show. The debut featured celebrities from John Mayer to Olympic Ski and Snowboard Team members.

Having posted their first profitable quarter in over a year, Jaguar Land Rover is finally looking towards better days ahead. Things aren't perfect, but management sees the potential. In a recent interview with Autocar, JLR CEO Prof. Sir Ralf Speth gave some insight into the future of the company.

The New Defender will make its public debut in North America at the Los Angeles Auto Show, taking place at the Los Angeles Convention Center from November 22nd to December 1st. The Defender launch will be on a press preview day on November 20th.
